Tips and Tricks to keep in mind ...

A few things that I learned that might make things go a little smoother:

Don't finish the entire first sock before starting the second.

My first pair of hose was done one at a time. Psychologically, it is very challenging to start from the beginning after you complete one sock. Also, some of the steps, like the heel are tricky so once you figure it out for one it is good to use that knowledge right away on the second sock instead of weeks later when you might forget what you did.

I have two sets of needles and I switch off after every diamond is complete.

Weave in the ends often.

There are so many ends to weave in at the end. Maybe other knitters like doing this, but I hate this part. It is a good idea to weave in the ends after every diamond or two. I would like to say that I do this all of the time but I don't. I usually just want to see more progress on the length quickly. I wish I were more self-disciplined, but I'm not.

Use long yarn strands for the color blocks

This is apparently the method that the famous knitter Kaffe Fassett uses. Just let the yarn strands of 2-3 feet hang down. Honestly, I think my strands are quite a bit longer than this so that I avoid weaving in more ends.

I find bobbins or balls get very tangled up. It is wise to untangle after every few rows. With the strands you can just pull them through the mess.

 Favorite Needles

This is always a person choice and everyone is different. I really like circular needles, even though these socks are not knit in a circle. I find them less cumbersome than long needles. I like addi TURBO 2 mm circular needles.
